Most CRM applications have facilities to enable users to categorise their customers, supporters and prospects into segments to ease selection. In most cases, this is a manual process of assigning one or more categories to the record.
There are numerous problems, however, with this approach. In time, certain categories may become irrelevant or records may no longer fall into a certain category. Before long, the useability of the database for selection may be affected.
Dynamic segmentation is event-driven. It assigns and removes category codes depending on what happens (or has not happened) to a record. With dynamic segmentation, users can plan the Lifetime Journey of each record and pace prospects through the process of becoming loyal customers thus maximising their Lifetime Value.
